Leading up to our NLSF AGM, Elections, Awards Banquet and Consultation Sessions last weekend, we planned a few rides with some of our affiliated clubs. Among them, was a beauty day in the country with Humber Winterland Snowmobile Club President Sheldon and now NLSF board member Ashley Hann, our friends from Mapgears Trails (our NLSF App partner) and adjacent club Junction Trail Blazers. We compared notes on and off the existing trails and considered possible re-routes to avoid boggy areas and to take advantage of new woods roads in the area as well - all with a safe, reliable, sustainable four seasons lens. There are a number of private sector operators that have invested (and continue to invest) in the area - providing market ready resident and non-resident back country experiences all year round. Fly and ride is here to stay! The Humber-Winterland (Taylor’s Brook Road) area is an important part of the 3,300kms of NLSF trail network. Great turnout and great meeting in Hawke’s Bay on the Great Northern Peninsula! There’s definitely some do’ers in this group pic - including the NLSF’s 2026 Groomer Operator of the Year Phil Ryan! The NLSF provided an update on their organization, 17 clubs, hundreds of volunteers and thousands of pass holders. We explored ideas on how to strengthen the local Northwest Trackers Snowmobile Club in the coming days and weeks (have an eye out on their club page ⬆️ for upcoming meetings to get involved). And of course we talked about the current Regional Council of PAC, PS, HB & ROP project that is well underway to address much needed four-seasons riding infrastructure (bridges, routes) in Phase 1 of this multi-partner initiative - shout out to Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Jobs, Growth and Rural Development NL and the municipalities involved. Thanks to Torrent River Inn for hosting last night’s meeting! Connecting rural communities along the entire GNP all year long is worth fighting for, meeting about and realizing for our rural communities. A very BIG part of the NLSF’s vision to develop an off road vehicle partnership with the province includes all of the Great Northern Peninsula. There’s so much to see and do along the GNP all year long. Safe, reliable, market ready off road trails will bring resident and non-resident traffic to these communities across all four seasons. Time to take the choke off rural communities and let safe, reliable, market-ready four seasons riding make connections like never before!
